Servicing Shear Blades to Maintain Its Tip-Top Shape
Midwest Knife Grinding, Inc. is a reputable knife grinding machine shop that has been in operation since 1986. Our technicians offer sharpening services to get your machinery’s metal and scrap shear blades back in outstanding shape.
Delivering Expedient Services Every Single Time
Giving metal shear blades the service they need is something people tend to forget about during the long stretches of time between flipping the edges. However, this is an important part of keeping them in great condition. This is where we come in. You can count on us for precision sharpening solutions.
Exceeding Industry Standards for Quality
American National Standards Institute specifications are 0.001” variation per 12” and no more than 0.003” overall. We exceed these standards by keeping a tolerance of 0.001” variation over a 326” length. This ensures that gapping your knives will be easier.
Following a Tried and Tested Protocol
When your knives arrive, we conduct a visual inspection and clean the knives. Then, we consult with you to see if you need the standard surfaces ground or have special requirements. Afterward, we grind our knives under a full flood coolant system to ensure your knives stay cool during the process and retain their proper temperature.
Once ground, the knives are honed and demagnetized. We then oil them and pack the knives before returning them safely to your facility.
Maintaining an Excellent Lead Time
We do standard sharpening work with one of the fastest turnaround times in the industries. For more urgent needs, we accept rush job requests and get your knives back to you immediately.
We want to help you get your metal shear functioning again so that you no longer have to worry about it. Bring the machinery blades to us soon because the faster the knives get to us, the quicker we get them back to you.
Sharpening Your Scrap Shear Blades
Many customers use scrap shear knives for processing scrap metal, rebar, and other materials. After extended use, these blades require some attention to bring them back to optimal cutting performance. So, we sharpen scrap shear knives and provide precision-ground shims to bring your blades back to the required thickness.
Priding Ourselves on Our Thorough Process
We visually inspect each blade upon arrival, and then we prepare precision shims if the customer’s specifications require them. After sharpening and demagnetizing the blades, we grind the shims to the exact thickness requirement of our customer.
This ensures that their machinery operates exactly as they expect it to. The blades are then oiled and packed for return shipment.
Manufacturing Replacement Blades to Your Specifications
We supply replacement knives if your current blades are below the minimum specifications for sharpening. Our technicians manufacture knives out of many materials, whether you need the standard S-7 shock steel or another impact-resistant steel like the H13 or CPM®3V® steel.
Count on us to be honest about the job’s lead time and to have the knowledge and experience needed to produce a knife that meets or exceeds your expectations.
